Pecha Kucha

I read the background on Pecha Kucha and I get it --- a concise Power Point presentation consisting of 20 slides timed at 20 seconds each for a presentation complete in 6 minutes, 40 seconds. Anyone that has sat through the long and boring PP presentation can appreciate this.

It seems though that Pecha Kucha has morphed into something much more. While it started out as an avenue for architects, designers, and creative artists to present their ideas in this specific format it has now attracted many others and provided a new social setting. There are special events worldwide - Pecha Kucha nights in many major cities. It may be the rave but it sort of reminds me of comedy clubs, film festivals, concerts, museum events, poetry readings, etc. - opportunities to gather, socialize and "show your stuff".

YouTube has some examples of Pecha Kucha and you can see the international extent as many are from other countries and in many languages.
