This was a great introduction to wikis for me as Wikipedia has been the basis for most of the wiki experience I have had so far. Wikis create a community sharing atmosphere and can be very beneficial in the academic world with instructor postings & collaborative classroom work, business & scientific applications, conference planning, personal interests and of course a host of library uses. Library Success: A Best Practices Wiki highlights great programs and technological wonders in the library world with the objective of sharing library success stories and new innovation.
A couple of interesting wikis I came across:
Wikitravel - a worldwide travel guide with participating contributors from around the world.
wikiHow - Collaborative How-to Manuals - from how to knit an iPod cover to installing home security to planning a wedding.
I was able to create an account and log into the PLCMC Wiki but could not add my blog to the Favorite Blogs page.
